Helping reshape and evolve social and community sectors

Person carrying another person on their back

We’ve partnered with social and community sector organisations to adapt, grow and increase their resilience in the face of change.

Social and community organisations play a vital role in supporting cohesion, wellbeing, and improved economic outcomes for everyone. Yet today, it is caught in a perfect storm that is challenging long-held assumptions and operating models.

Traditional not-for-profit business models, based on fundraising, philanthropy and government funding are under pressure, with long term revenue in decline. New, for-purpose business models are emerging, providing alternative avenues of social impact, but face barriers to scaling.

Parallel to this, an underlying shift in consumer behaviour and demographic trends is driving greater demand for transparency, sustainability and impact.

Today’s consumers expect that the money they spend helps, not harms - without having to compromise on a seamless experience.

How we support the social sector

Experience design to re-frame purpose and objectives

Through our research-driven approach, we help social enterprises, organisations and NGOs better understand the challenges faced by the communities they serve and re-frame their offerings to both represent and engage.

By leveraging our expertise in mixed-methods design research, we enable organisations in the social sector to become more responsive, and effective in delivering the positive impact they seek.

Experience design

Strategic design to co-design ethical solutions

We have employed strategic design methodologies to help the sector innovate and evolve their organisations, business models and service offerings to achieve sustainable and impactful long term outcomes.

Our sector experts work with organisations, citizens and consumers to discover new opportunities, co-design ethical solutions and refine their positioning to maximise both impact and success.

Strategic design

Service design to develop user-first solutions

With a deep understanding of the unique needs and expectations of the social sector, we assist in crafting and mapping new experiences as well as modernising current services.

Our service design methodologies engage stakeholders and communities in the design process, fostering diverse perspectives. We construct and validate rapidly, gathering early feedback and pivoting quickly to maximise value and speed to market.

Service design

Designing clear and accessible products

We focus on developing accessible and clear products that provide engaging and practical experiences using scalable technologies.

Our product design approach incorporates various methodologies such as design sprint, design systems, lean UX, and user-centered Design to enable teams to optimise design and technology choices efficiently through iteration.

How we collaborate with the social and community sector

Practitioner-led engagements. Central to how we work, our practitioner-led engagements guarantee specialised practice knowledge is at the centre of every project decision. It ensures a user-centric approach, seamless integration of vision and practicality, clear communication and, above all, a genuine pursuit of outcome excellence.

One project at a time. We operate with teams exclusively committed to a single project without dividing their time across multiple projects. This guarantees seamless collaboration and accountability and higher quality outcomes.

Senior Teams. We believe that exceptional outcomes are born from small, senior teams comprising hands-on, multidisciplinary experts. These professionals possess extensive experience in crafting products and deploying them at scale.
