In Detail

Challenge

Detailed requirements outlining the highest value features and key future-state experiences for the new Study Australia website, with a view to better meeting student needs and expectations through a personalised experience; was needed to inform Austrade’s digital roadmap, and the business case development and go-to-market documentation to procure solution vendors.

Outcomes

Provided a framework for Austrade to prioritise their concept backlog and identify prototyping candidates

Used a combination of interviews and concept testing with International students to better understand their core needs and product/market fit

Delivered tested and validated design concepts, requirements and a story map to help guide further development and go-to-market documentation

How it was done

Conducted facilitated usability sessions with students to inform synthesis

Information Architecture (IA) research & prototyping of high fidelity clickable prototypes

Update prototypes based on user insights & test findings

Prepare recommendations report to inform future visual interfaces and design

Prepare Study Australia story map to inform future releases

The Study Australia website is a key digital touchpoint for International students who are researching the benefits of studying in Australia.

Prime Motive was engaged alongside education consultants Edified to increase value in the StudyAU website for both students and education providers and rapidly test new design concepts for inclusion on Austrade’s digital roadmap.

Leveraging previous discovery work to engage meaningfully with stakeholders

Our team were involved in various precursor projects including student journey mapping and the development of a new Information Architecture, so we quickly arranged stakeholder workshops to discover wide and varying requirements.

Feature visualisations and prototypes to illustrate key website experiences

We identified features and functionalities and assessed their effort to deliver (versus potential value to students and impact for Austrade), before prioritising features for prototyping and testing.

We developed visualisations and concept prototypes of key features and content, conducted user research and testing to validate concepts, and made refinements based on feedback.

Study Australia roadmap

A prioritised brief, and a site story map, to guide design/build which outlines personalisation and UX requirements for the Study Australia website

This map shows a breakdown of the key features and requirements required to support students across their journey with the Study in Australia website. We broke the features into potential Release 1 & 2 candidates based on the rankings applied to the features during our research and logical product development sequencing.

I've really valued the common sense, practical approaches taken. The quality of recommendations and outcomes has been impactful.”
